Wooden Hill Staff to bring Bedtime Stories to your Home!
The staff at Wooden Hill School are thrilled to bring bedtime stories to your homes after the half term break. Don’t worry, they won’t be knocking on your door! Instead staff will be filmed reading their favourite story which will be uploaded to the school website and Facebook page at 7pm, just in time for bedtime.
So far 15 members of staff and governors have signed up for this unique experience. It is hoped that by bringing the stories to a device at home, the children will be excited about sharing stories at home and look forward to the next book.
Mrs Lagares will kick off by reading Julia Donaldson’s Room on the Broom, as chosen by her daughter. This will go live on the website on Monday 3rd June at 7pm.

Maths Champions!
Eight Year 6 children were lucky enough to be invited to take part in Sandhurst School's 'Maths Olympics' on 31st March. Their competition for the event included: College Town, Owlsmoor, Uplands and St Michael's.
Some of our many amazing mathematicians did a brilliant job, taking part in activities which were both mentally and physically challenging, and came back to school with the winning trophy.

Year 1's PE
The children absolutely love their PE lessons with Miss McGowan. They have covered a range of PE skills this year, and are proud to show off their learning. Please encourage them to show you what they have been learning in PE!
Please make sure that your child has full school PE kit on a Wednesday and a Thursday and if your child has their ears pierced, that they are able to remove their earrings themselves. If they can't take them out, they will not be able to join in with the lesson. Miss McGowan's lessons are very exciting, and the children are always disappointed if they have to sit out.

No Dogs Allowed on School PremisesPlease can you refrain from bringing your dogs on to the school premises at any time. Thank you for your co-operation. |

School UniformAll children must wear the correct uniform, including school shoes. Only plain stud earrings are permitted. Large bows, hair accessories, nail varnish and trainers are not permitted. At Wooden Hill we do not have a set date when children can start wearing summer dresses / shorts. This is entirely at the discretion of parents. As the children in Foundation Stage are outside for much of the day, it is essential that all children in Nursery and Reception bring a sunhat or cap which will protect their heads and faces from the sun’s rays. Please make sure that it is clearly labelled with your child’s name. In Years 1 – 6 children should bring a sunhat or cap to wear while outside during playtime and lunchtime when the sun is shining and this must be labelled also. |

Contact DetailsIf you have moved, or have changed your telephone number or email address, please could you let Mrs Squires know as soon as possible so that we have up to date contact details for you, should we need to. |
|
Please Remember to Park ConsideratelyDespite several reminders, we still have some parents / carers that are not parking considerately. Where possible we encourage that children walk to school. However, should you need to drive to school, please ensure that you park considerately and safely. This will help make sure that we keep congestion to a minimum, maintain good relationships with the school’s neighbours and most importantly help keep children safe around the school. Due to various complaints recently, we will be contacting the local Police Community Support Officer again to inform them of this matter and we will also be outside monitoring the situation and you will be asked to move if you’ve parked or stopped where you shouldn’t. Thank you for your co-operation. |
