Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is an allowance allocated to schools for children of school age who are eligible for free school meals, to children whose parents serve in the armed forces, to children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months (CLA) and to post looked after children.
We receive Pupil Premium for each pupil that is eligible for free school meals or are LAC or PLAC. In the year 2020-2021 the allocation is £1,345 per pupil or £2345 for LAC or PLAC.
At Wooden Hill we use our allocation to support the learning and emotional development of our children. Our aims are to:
- Support learning, progress and overall achievement
- Employ support staff to work with children in the afternoons on same day intervention to ensure all children keep up with the learning in their class
- Support families with learning and emotional needs through our Family Support Adviser (FSA)
- Emotional support in school through our Learning Mentor
- Subsidise the cost of educational visits, residential trips and events
The eligibility criteria for free school meals are:
- Universal Credit - as long as they have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400 (£616.67 per month)
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guarantee element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by HMRC
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
