Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School

Academy Information

Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School is currently considering joining the Greenshaw Learning Trust. Please see the documents below for more information.

Governors and school leaders have been carefully considering the future of Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School in Bracknell for some time. They have concluded that it would be in the best interests of the pupils, parents, staff, and wider community for it to take advantage of the closer collaboration and stronger support it would get by being part of a multi-academy trust and believe that GLT can provide the support that the school needs.

Gavin Handford, Chair of Governing Body at Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School, said: “This is an exciting step for Wooden Hill Primary & Nursery School, and one that the Governing Board has taken considerable time to consider carefully. We have high aspirations for our school and are always looking at how we can improve. We have concluded that the best way to achieve this is to join a Multi-Academy Trust and having reviewed a number of different MATs, the Governing Board unanimously felt that GLT provided an excellent fit for our vision and values at Wooden Hill. We believe that GLT will offer considerable support to enable us to deliver our priorities, and ultimately deliver the best outcomes for our children and wider community. There is considerable work to do between now and when we join, and I would encourage everyone to attend the stakeholder meetings to find out more. Rest assured, we will still be 'your Wooden Hill school' with a local community focus.”

Will Smith, CEO of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: “We are delighted that Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School would like to join our family of schools. As part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, Wooden Hill will benefit from and contribute to a close collaboration of like-minded schools and high-quality support services, while retaining its character and place in the local community. We look forward to working with Wooden Hill and helping to improve the life chances of the young people in the school.”

Subject to the necessary agreements being reached between the school, the Greenshaw Learning Trust, the Department for Education, and Bracknell Forest Council, it is expected that Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School should join the Greenshaw Learning Trust in the Spring term.

The Greenshaw Learning Trust is well-established locally, being responsible for Sandy Lane Primary School, Crown Wood Primary School, Wildmoor Heath School and Brakenhale School in Berkshire.
